Here is the picture used for the cover. The scene is from the first chapter, when the
young Iokaste receives a prophecy from the Tiresias.
The architecture is typical of the period. Columns were common, as was wall-painting.
The colors were limited in selection but brilliant in hue. As we only see the
fragments which are now more than 3000 years old, their brilliance has faded.
The dress of the Bronze Age consisted of multi-tiered skirts, as shown on the kneeling
Iokaste.
